Paja was a Suli Alkemi who was in the Second Army as it was led by Alina Starkov. She and David Kostyk represented the Materialki in Alina's court. She assisted David in making the disks that amplified Alina's power to use the Cut. She was crushed by a disk and died when the Darkling attacked the Little Palace.
Biography[]
Paja is one of the two Fabrikators chosen to represent their Order in the war council Alina led. When told about the nichevo'ya and their supernatural strength, Paja assumes that they are still mortal if Alina had been able to escape them alive.[1]
Over time, Paja becomes more confident with her place as representative, seeming to enjoy time away from the workrooms. She contributes to their discussion about their advantages over the Darkling, and her hope that he will be defeated raises Alina's spirits. Paja is paired with Zoya Nazyalensky to work on the dishes intended to amplify Alina's power. When they turn out to be working, Nikolai Lantsov dances with Paja around the roof.[2]
Paja is killed when the Darkling and his nichevo'ya attack the Little Palace. Alina finds her body crushed underneath the shattered pieces of David's dishes.[3]
Personality and traits[]
Paja was observant and often tentative, but continued to be hopeful despite the near-impossible odds the Second Army was facing. She seemed to be in her element at the war councils.
Physical description[]
Paja's hair was dark and her eyes were nearly black. She wore a purple kefta with red embroidery, signifying her Alkemi powers.[1]
